Mirka Golden-Hann - Ceramic Artist - Ceramic Installations

Interactive colour

This piece explores our individual approaches to colour.

As individuals we not only perceive it but also use it differently. Presented with the task of arranging different colours according to personal preference we would all finish with a very different result. Colour is intimate and carries different meanings for us - some fixed to memories or experiences, some conditioned culturally, some perhaps innate.

This piece was created in 2010. It comprises 36 vessels, one for each of the 36 years of my life. It was arranged initially to be symbolically autobiographical, but as an interactive piece audience members are invited to rearrange the display in whichever way has personal meaning for them.
